Next priority is to try and get my 1969 Triumph Bonneville back on the road in time for the Dragon rally in 2 weeks' time. More info soon.
Ah, I didn't get the Triumph ready in time for the Dragon Rally. It broke down on the way to the MOT station. We didn't get the GT750 ready in time either - with the sidecar! So, myself & daughter went on the trusty Fazer 1000 and Mark used his Africa Twin. Regulars, John R, Steve F, Jason L and Brian K also joined us on big Tiger, R1 (of all things least suitable), XT660 Tenere and XR250 as well.
Never heard of the Dragon Rally? See here and have a good dig around that brilliant website. It's amazing. It says a bit about my mentality doesn't it, if I find that mid-Winter camping in Wales is appealing? I'ver posted some photos and accoun tof the weeknd on my Facebook page.
Sri Lanka, from Feb / March onwards. I had a keen group, but they're off to Vietman instead now. Partly my fault - I didn't have all the Sri lanka details ready in time. I do have them now, and must add to website soon. It'a NEW TRIP, a NEW DESTINATION. The inaugural tour will be experimental and probably more-or-less cost price.
Best of Three Trips in April & May. Several places taken on each now, including some "regulars" coming back for an annual get-together. My plan is to run the April Trip with a base in the Yorkshire Dales, and the May one with a base in the Lake District. Each trip around half full now.
TT races, early June. All 30 places taken. SOLD OUT. If anyone is at their wits end and desperate to go, it may be worth getting in touch in case of any cancellations or if I can get hold of any more boat tickets.
Iceland - longest Day Tour - Mid June. Now FULL. A 40th birthday group.
French Alps - taking bookings - about 10 places left. Hotel rooms reserved, 4 self-catering chalets booked, and unlimited camping. A slightly shorter trip than previous years, to enable bargain prices to be maintained.
Iceland - To Hell & Back, through the Black Desert. July Tour. Half full. 5 places left. Hoping to ride the Sprengisandur; a prolonged, challenging, dirt route with a high adventure factor. As usual, 4x4 support provided, but fairly tough, and camping. Expect variable weather and river crossings. For great advice on sleeping bags click here and here. These articles are really well worth reading if you're into your camping, or fancy one of my Icleand tours. I LOVE my down sleeping bag.
September - a third Best of Three - often a reunion for people who've survived the earlier trips :)
Dordogne & Picos Tour - happy to re-run thi ssecenic & comfortable tour according to demand. It's shame P&O are dropping their Bilbao / Portsmouth sailings from the end of September. I've made good use of the cabin bathrooms on the Pride of Bilbao over the years.
November 2010 - special trip to Northern Thailand. Another 40th Birthday group.
Fuller tour details and photos scattered elsewhere around the website. See left hand side, "2010 Tours" and its sub-sections. |
